FIRST Robotics Competition is a large-scale robotics competition, which brings together students and mentors to build robots that perform in a competitive but gracious environment against teams from all over the world. FIRST was founded in 1989 in the USA, and its innovative programs are designed to motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, while building self-confidence, knowledge and life skills.
ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë has expanded its STEM and Robotics Program by partnering with VEX Robotics, the world’s largest robotics competition, according to the 2016 Guinness World Records. The VEX Robotics competition will enable ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë students an opportunity to engage and expand their robotics experiences in a fun but competitive environment.
The expanded Robotics Program aims to further develop students with a diverse range of transferable skills to better prepare them for technology filled futures and as global citizens.
ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë aims to build a range of skills aside from the understanding of just building and programming a robot. To this end every Robotics Program ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë students are involved in is combined with a state, national and world competition. Competitions extend a range of transferable skills such as using collaboration, problem-solving and interdisciplinary thinking that builds upon the content developed in class.
ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë competes in the First Lego League, is the Event Partner for VEX EDR & IQ Robotics and enters the First Robotics Competition held in Sydney each year.
The Lego Robotics Program is all about having fun while constructing robots and structures. As an entry to ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë’s Robotics Programme students engages with robotics through hands-on activities. Students explore engineering concepts through the use of motors, sensors, and programming. We currently offer different programs throughout the year allowing for various age/skill levels.
ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë’s Robocamps are another option for students interested in robotics. RoboCamps are run by an experienced ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë Technology staff alongside senior school student mentors.
